Norwalk High School celebrated its outstanding student athletes and environmental scholars during a recent city council meeting, highlighting the achievements of local youth and their contributions to the community.
The event kicked off with a warm welcome to the qualifiers for the prestigious CIF tournament, including Jimmy Butello, Enrique Flores, Sarah Ramirez, Citlali Modesto, and Amber Farr. Each athlete was recognized for their hard work and dedication, with special mention of Amber Farr, who not only qualified for the master's tournament but also made it to the state tournament, achieving a commendable record of 2 wins and 2 losses.

In addition to athletic achievements, the meeting recognized the recipients of the Norwalk Environmental Awareness Scholarships. These $1,000 scholarships, funded through a partnership between Athens Services and the City of Norwalk Educational Alliance, were awarded to high school seniors who demonstrated a commitment to environmental issues and community service. The winners, including Sadie Alvarado, Nayeli Flores, and Denise Oliva, were celebrated for their academic achievements and community involvement.
