Preston High School students excel at West Virginia State Social Studies Fair

The Preston County Schools Board of Education meeting held on April 28, 2025, featured a celebration of student achievements in social studies. The meeting began with the recognition of individual and group winners from the recent West Virginia State Social Studies Fair.

Scarlet Hayes from Central Preston was acknowledged for her honorable mention in World History. The board then highlighted the Division 2 winners, including Mason White and Noah Johnson from West Preston. In Division 3, which encompasses grades 9 through 12, Isabella Edmonds from Preston High School secured second place in anthropology, while Calista Huggins earned third place in political science.

The meeting continued with the recognition of additional participants from various schools, including Taylor Schnapp and Ryan Foley from Kingwood Elementary, as well as several students from Preston High School, such as D'lany and Olivia, Sofia Flowers, and Rhys Stratton. The board ensured that all students who participated in the fair were acknowledged, confirming that no one was overlooked.

The meeting concluded with a sense of pride in the students' accomplishments and a commitment to supporting their continued educational journeys.
