Preston County students honored at West Virginia State Social Studies Fair

The Preston County Board of Education meeting on April 28, 2025, highlighted the achievements of local students at the West Virginia State Social Studies Fair, showcasing the community's commitment to education and student recognition.

During the meeting, Mr. Martin opened with a warm welcome to the large crowd of parents and students in attendance, emphasizing the importance of community involvement in educational events. The board recognized the impressive participation of Preston County students at the recent State Social Studies Fair held on April 11 in Charleston, where 43 counties competed with a total of 349 projects.

Preston County stood out with 24 projects advancing from the regional competition to the state level, resulting in 21 students earning recognition for their hard work. The board celebrated the accomplishments of these young scholars, with 14 projects receiving awards in the first through third place categories.

Mrs. Debbie Ziggray, the county coordinator, was invited to the front to acknowledge the students and their achievements, highlighting the collaborative effort of staff and students in preparing for the fair. The meeting included a moment for students to come forward for a group photo, symbolizing the pride and support of the community for their educational endeavors.
