Weber County approves $1.3M for ice sheet upgrades and $2.2M in warrants

The Weber County LIVE meeting held on May 27, 2025, focused on financial approvals and new business agreements. The meeting began with a request for approval of purchase orders totaling $1,282,547.33. Following this, the council reviewed a request for approval of warrants numbered 105122 through 105187 and 491072 through 491196, amounting to $2,186,825.38.

Ricky Hatch provided a summary of the purchase orders, noting that 13 orders were issued this week, amounting to $1,300,000. A significant portion, 80% or $1,000,000, is allocated for improvements at the ice sheet, including a new chiller, compressor, security cameras, and VIP room remodels. Additionally, 13% or $169,000 is designated for security cameras at the Golden Spike Event Center.

In terms of warrants, 191 were issued this week for a total of $2,200,000, covering various categories. Notably, 16% or $357,000 is for paramedic services and vehicle replacement, while 11% or $230,000 represents the county's monthly contribution to Weber Human Services. Other expenditures included $183,000 in grants awarded to local organizations and contributions to the convention and visitors bureau, conference center remodel, road supplies, and dispatch services.

The top five vendors receiving payments this week included Weber Human Services at $235,000, Ogden City Corporation at $159,000, Ogden Weber Convention Visitors Bureau at $133,000, Wheeler Machinery at $132,000, and Westnet Incorporated at $130,000.

The meeting also included a request for approval of minutes from the previous meeting held on May 20, 2025, and a new business funding agreement between Weber County and West Haven City regarding the amended terms for the West Haven City 2700 West project.

Overall, the meeting addressed significant financial matters and set the stage for future collaborations with local entities.
