Milwaukee plans Moxie hotel to enhance local tourism experience

Milwaukee's vibrant cultural scene is set to get a boost with the proposed Moxie Hotel, designed to attract visitors and encourage them to explore the city. During the recent Zoning, Neighborhoods & Development Committee meeting, city officials discussed the hotel’s unique concept, which aims to provide a compact and lively space for travelers who want to experience Milwaukee's festivities, such as Juneteenth Day celebrations and Summerfest.

The Moxie Hotel is not intended to be a traditional full-service hotel. Instead, it will feature smaller rooms that encourage guests to venture out and enjoy the local attractions rather than linger indoors. The design promotes a "sleep after fun" philosophy, positioning the hotel as a springboard for visitors to engage with the community.

While the hotel will offer some amenities, including food and beverage options, it will not have extensive banquet facilities that might keep guests from exploring the city. This approach aligns with Milwaukee's goal of enhancing its appeal as a destination for both leisure and cultural experiences.

However, the development is still in its early stages. The developer has yet to apply for a building permit, meaning that the project is not yet finalized. City officials are awaiting further detailed plans before moving forward.
