Saint Louis Park approves Harry Allen Field for disability sports this summer

The Lowell Board of Parks has approved the use of the Saint Louis Harry Allen Field for disability sports on Wednesday nights throughout July and August, excluding July 2. This decision, made during the board's recent meeting, aims to provide continued access to recreational activities for children with disabilities, especially as the Cody Little League field remains closed due to ongoing water park construction.

Jeff, a representative for the disability sports program, expressed gratitude for the board's support, noting that local sponsors, including Home Depot and Medicare of Firefighters, are interested in contributing to the events. The board emphasized its commitment to supporting youth sports, particularly for children with disabilities, and confirmed that there will be no fee for the use of the field.

In addition to the field usage approval, the board addressed a scheduling change for a baseball game originally set for June 22, which was proposed to be moved to June 29. However, the request was withdrawn, allowing the game to remain on its original date.

The meeting underscored the board's dedication to enhancing community engagement through sports and recreation, particularly for underserved groups.
