Salt Lake County launches youth recreation pass offering various amenities

The Jordan School District Board of Education meeting on May 27, 2025, highlighted the introduction of the "My County Rec Pass," a new initiative aimed at enhancing youth access to recreational facilities in Salt Lake County. This pass allows children and teens aged 0 to 17 to enjoy various amenities, including swimming pools, ice skating, gymnasiums, and arts and crafts activities, with age restrictions in place for certain facilities.

Parents can sign up their children at any Salt Lake County recreation center, provided they present proof of residency. Notably, the pass will automatically renew each year until the holder turns 19, ensuring continued access to recreational opportunities. Youth under 10 must be accompanied by an adult aged 14 or older, promoting safety and supervision.

In addition to the pass discussion, board members addressed concerns regarding fees charged to club organizations, including complaints from Herriman Rugby. Board members expressed a desire for fairness in the treatment of these clubs, which have achieved national recognition. This topic will be further explored in future meetings.

Looking ahead, the board is preparing for the upcoming Delegate Assembly on June 6 and 7, where members will discuss legislative matters and gather questions for a panel discussion. The assembly will be open to all, with a dinner planned for attendees.

The meeting concluded with a motion to adjourn the business session, transitioning back to the study session for further discussions.
