Centennial School District 28J is taking significant strides toward enhancing student readiness for the future with the development of a comprehensive "Profile of a Graduate." This initiative, rooted in the district's strategic framework known as Road Map '27, aims to equip students with essential knowledge, skills, and competencies necessary to thrive in an evolving world.
In the first months of the year, the district convened three design retreats involving a diverse group of 40 to 50 stakeholders, including students, staff, parents, and community partners. These sessions focused on establishing a clear instructional vision and articulating student outcome progressions by grade level. District and school leaders also participated in additional sessions to refine the development process, ensuring alignment with strategic goals.

This engagement was complemented by a virtual community partner forum, which expanded stakeholder involvement to include nonprofit leaders, higher education representatives, business partners, and social service providers. Participants emphasized the importance of competencies such as communication, adaptability, and social responsibility for student success beyond K-12 education.
The culmination of these collaborative efforts is a cohesive plan that integrates the Profile of a Graduate across all schools and grade levels. This ensures that every student in the Centennial School District has the opportunity to develop the critical competencies outlined in the graduate profile. The plan is currently being finalized, with a phased implementation strategy set to be determined shortly, marking a pivotal moment in the district's commitment to preparing students for their futures.
