The MCAT Benefit Auction at The Milwaukee Station brought together a vibrant mix of community members and local artists on May 30, 2025, showcasing the spirit of Missoula. Among the attendees was Marylyn Steffenbeck from the Montana Players, who shared her excitement about her first auction experience. She highlighted her purchases, including a unique dinosaur print and an MCAT t-shirt, while promoting the upcoming production of "Keeley and Dew," set to open on October 25.
Steffenbeck expressed enthusiasm for the play, which tackles the sensitive topic of abortion without taking sides, emphasizing its powerful narrative. She also mentioned a notable guest actress from New York, now retired in Whitefish, who will be joining the cast, adding a touch of star power to the local theater scene.
Another attendee, known as Warrior the Punk, brought a different flavor to the evening. He hosts a politically charged show on MCAT, "The Awful Truth About Society," where he critiques societal issues from a unique perspective. Warrior has been a regular at the auction since 1995, using the platform to connect with like-minded individuals and share his views on punk culture and its alternatives to mainstream life.
The auction not only served as a fundraiser but also as a celebration of local talent and community engagement, highlighting the diverse voices that contribute to Missoula's cultural landscape. As the night unfolded, it became clear that events like these are vital for fostering connections and supporting the arts in the region.
