Lubbock Fire Station 20 dedicated to fallen Lieutenant Eric Hill

Lubbock's newest fire station, dedicated to the memory of Lieutenant Eric Hill, officially opened its doors on May 30, 2025, marking a significant milestone for the community. Fire Station 20, now known as the Eric Hill Memorial Station, stands as a tribute to Hill's legacy and the values he embodied as a firefighter.

During the grand opening ceremony, city officials and fire department leaders emphasized the importance of this facility in enhancing public safety in District 4. The station, which spans 15,483 square feet, is designed to accommodate 30 personnel across three shifts and includes a certified storm shelter and a training room. Assistant Chief Rob Kanest highlighted the project's successful completion without any change orders, a notable achievement in construction.

The dedication of the station not only honors Hill, who tragically lost his life in the line of duty in 2020, but also reinforces the city's commitment to proactive emergency response as Lubbock continues to grow.
