Intermountain Health breaks ground on Desert Color Primary Care Clinic in Saint George

Intermountain Health has officially broken ground on the Desert Color Primary Care Clinic in Washington County, Utah, marking a significant step towards enhancing healthcare accessibility in the rapidly growing community of Desert Color. This new facility, located at the end of Desert Color Parkway, is designed to serve the increasing population, projected to reach 30,000 residents in the near future.

The clinic will span approximately 19,000 square feet and is expected to house around 16 healthcare providers, focusing on family medicine. The total investment for this project is estimated at $17 million. In addition to the primary care clinic, plans are underway for a standalone emergency department, which will further bolster healthcare services in the area.

Local leaders expressed their enthusiasm for the new clinic, emphasizing its importance for the community, particularly for the elderly population in nearby Sunriver, which has around 3,500 to 4,000 residents. The proximity of healthcare services is seen as a vital resource for residents who may require frequent medical attention.

Intermountain Health's commitment to embedding healthcare facilities within communities reflects a broader strategy to provide proactive care and improve health outcomes. The groundbreaking ceremony highlighted the organization's long-standing relationship with Washington County, dating back nearly 50 years when it took over a county-run hospital.

As construction progresses, with initial site work expected to begin in the next few weeks, the primary care clinic is anticipated to open its doors in the summer of 2026.
