A new set of stringent measures aimed at enhancing safety in local establishments was approved during the Alcohol License Review Committee's special meeting on May 29, 2025. The committee unanimously agreed to implement a comprehensive ID verification process for patrons at a local restaurant, emphasizing the importance of preventing underage drinking and ensuring a secure environment.
Key among the new conditions is the requirement for establishments to check patron IDs at the entrance using a computerized ID scanner. This measure is designed to quickly identify fake IDs and maintain a record of individuals entering the venue, which could aid law enforcement in case of disturbances. Additionally, patrons aged 21 and over will receive wristbands upon entry, allowing for easier identification when ordering alcohol.

Private security will be on duty during peak hours—Friday and Saturday nights from 10 PM until close—to further enhance safety and monitor compliance with these new regulations.
Alder Revere, who spearheaded the motion, highlighted the necessity of these measures in light of community concerns regarding underage drinking and public safety. The committee's decision reflects a proactive approach to managing alcohol service in the city, aiming to create a safer nightlife environment while still allowing patrons under 21 to enjoy dining experiences.
As these new conditions take effect, local establishments will need to adapt their operations to comply with the enhanced security protocols, ensuring that both patrons and staff can enjoy a safer atmosphere.
