Preston County Schools secures $93K grant for expanded educational resources

The meeting also included a transportation update from Steve Plumb, the transportation director. He reported that the district operates 57 daily routes, with a focus on maintaining a reliable fleet. However, he noted a reduction in force for three drivers next year, which could affect service levels. Plumb also mentioned ongoing efforts to recruit new drivers, highlighting the challenges faced in filling these essential roles.

Concerns were raised about the disparity in benefits between service personnel and professional staff, particularly regarding bonuses for attendance.
