Utah County prepares for 2025 nonpartisan city council and school board endorsements

In a pivotal meeting on June 3, 2025, Utah officials outlined the endorsement process for candidates in nonpartisan races, including city council, mayoral, and school board positions. This year marks a significant shift, as endorsements will be made for these races due to the recent split of the Alpine School District, resulting in three new school districts.

Candidates interested in running for mayor or city council must first file with their respective city or town offices by the end of June. However, those in the newly established Spring Lake must file at the Utah County Election Office. After filing, candidates are required to complete an endorsement form available on the Utah County Republican Party's website, ucrp.org. A $50 filing fee will be charged to help cover the costs of organizing candidate meet-and-greet events.
