El Segundo honors community leaders at annual service awards luncheon

The El Segundo City Council meeting on June 1, 2025, highlighted key community initiatives and recognized outstanding local individuals for their contributions.

A significant focus of the meeting was the introduction of El Segundo Connect, a user-friendly platform designed for residents to report non-emergency issues such as potholes, air quality concerns, and graffiti. The platform is accessible 24/7 via computer or mobile app, allowing users to submit service requests easily. Residents can track their submissions, receive updates, and view requests made by others in the community. The initiative aims to enhance civic engagement and streamline communication between residents and city officials.

Additionally, the meeting acknowledged the El Segundo Rotary Club's annual community service awards luncheon held on May 29. Several individuals were honored for their dedication to the community, including Kaitlyn Ross as Police Officer of the Year, Brian Partlow as Firefighter of the Year, and Theresa McDormand as Teacher of the Year. Other honorees included Cheryl Ebert as City Employee of the Year, Julia Dunlap as Classified Employee of the Year, and Amanda O'Donnell as Civilian of the Year from the Police Department.
