City Council advances zoning change for Crossview Community Church on Monroe Street

The City of Sylvania held a public hearing on Monday, June 2, 2025, at 7:15 PM, to discuss a zoning change request from KIF Properties Limited. The hearing was attended by council members, city administration, and one community member, Mr. Hamill, who was not there to comment on the issue at hand.

The primary agenda item was the proposal to change the zoning of the property located at 5834 Monroe Street, Suites M and N, from a B4 staffing center district to a B4 designation with special use for Crossview Community Church. This request had previously been reviewed and unanimously supported by the Sylvania Planning Commission during their meeting on April 16, 2025.

City Clerk Mrs. Smith confirmed that a certificate of notice had been sent to all property owners within the vicinity of the proposed change, indicating that no objections were raised by the community. With no public comments or concerns presented during the hearing, the council members discussed the matter briefly.

A motion was made to advance the legislation regarding the zoning change to the city council meeting scheduled for later that evening. The motion received a second and was unanimously approved by the council members present.

The public hearing concluded with a motion to adjourn, marking the end of the session. The council will continue to address the zoning change in the upcoming city council meeting.
