Washington Township Council adopts multiple ordinances including noise and snow removal changes

The Township Council of Washington convened on June 2, 2025, to address several key issues, including public comments on community services and the adoption of multiple ordinances.

During the meeting, Jim Zucconi, a long-time member of the local fire department, expressed concern over the absence of council members at the annual Memorial Day service honoring deceased firefighters. Zucconi highlighted that for the past three years, no council representatives attended the service, which he believes disrespects the contributions of those who served the community. The council acknowledged the issue and discussed the need for better communication regarding such events, suggesting that the fire chief could send out invitations to ensure attendance in the future.

The council also moved forward with the adoption of several ordinances. Ordinance 25-12, which amends regulations on parking and emergency regulations, was adopted following a public hearing with no comments from attendees. Similarly, Ordinance 25-13, addressing noise regulations, and Ordinance 25-14, concerning snow and ice removal, were both adopted after brief discussions and public hearings, which also yielded no public input.

In addition to these ordinances, the council approved a consent agenda that included resolutions for refunding performance guarantees and awarding a contract for the Coolidge Avenue roadway project. The meeting concluded with no further items for discussion, indicating a smooth session focused on community concerns and regulatory updates.
