Additionally, the HRC awarded $250 to the live music group for their Christmas community concert, scheduled for December 16, which aims to foster community spirit during the holiday season. BGO Pride also received $250 for their Bridal event on June 28, designed to create a welcoming environment for the LGBTQIA+ community, including health screenings and security provisions.
Lastly, La Connexion was granted $250 for their annual Hispanic heritage event on October 4, which celebrates the cultural contributions of the Hispanic community in Wood County through food, dance, and educational activities.
Durham emphasized the importance of these grants in supporting community engagement and inclusivity, encouraging future applications for the 2026 grant cycle, which opens from October 1 to December 31, 2025. The meeting underscored the City Council's commitment to fostering a diverse and supportive community through these initiatives.
