Los Alamos County Library Board has announced a series of exciting updates and initiatives aimed at enhancing community engagement and library services during their recent meeting on June 2, 2025.
In May, the library reported a total circulation of 23,526 print materials and 8,983 digital items, indicating that 28% of the library's circulation was digital. This reflects a growing trend towards digital resources, which the library plans to continue supporting with innovative programming.

Subscribe for Free Among the highlights, the library hosted a drumming circle led by Jordan from Unidrums in White Rock, which was well-received and will be scheduled for a repeat performance this summer. Additionally, the library participated in the Senior Appreciation Night, celebrating approximately 200 graduating seniors, showcasing its commitment to community events.
Looking ahead, the library is set to introduce new programs in the youth area, including a "Creative Studio" on Tuesday afternoons at Mesa, where children can engage in various crafts. The popular "Read with a..." series will also return, featuring local figures such as rangers and chefs, aimed at encouraging reading among youth.
In terms of infrastructure improvements, the library is refreshing the front garden at Mesa Public Library, which will include new bike racks, a bike repair station, and benches. Furthermore, a sound study is scheduled to begin this month to assess and improve the acoustics within the library, addressing the need for quiet study spaces.
These initiatives reflect the library's ongoing commitment to enhancing community resources and fostering a vibrant environment for learning and engagement. As these projects unfold, the library aims to better serve the needs of Los Alamos County residents.
