Spanish Fort to host pet adoption event and open Loyalty Park on June 11

The Spanish Fort City Council convened on June 2, 2025, to discuss various community initiatives and administrative matters. The meeting began with an announcement regarding a pet adoption event hosted by The Haven at the Public Works office, scheduled for June 11 from 11 AM to 3 PM. This event will feature animals available for adoption, including strays from the city's animal holding facility.

In personnel matters, the council welcomed Becky Gaines as the new assistant city clerk, who was sworn in during the meeting. She replaces a long-serving employee who retired after 27 years.

The meeting proceeded to discuss ordinance number 7-05-2025, which proposes to amend the zoning classification of a property located at 7080 Spanish Fort Boulevard from R-1 (single-family residential) to B-3 (general business district).
