Clayton County celebrates Victor Nguyen's first place win at Georgia Science Fair

Clayton County Public Schools celebrated remarkable achievements in science and economics during its regular board meeting on June 2, 2025. The highlight of the evening was the recognition of Victor Nguyen, who secured a first-place prize at the K-5 Georgia State Science and Engineering Fair, showcasing the district's commitment to fostering young talent in STEM fields.

In addition to Nguyen's achievement, the board honored Khalil Rimmer and James Mays from Stillwell School of the Arts, along with Vi Li from Morrow High School, for their participation in the prestigious Regeneron International Science and Engineering Fair. Competing against 1,700 students from 66 countries, Rimmer and Mays earned a second-place specialty award for their innovative project on sound transducers in cardiology, while Li's project on soil microbes for microplastic biodegradation was recognized for its significant scientific contribution.

The meeting also highlighted the success of local students in the statewide Stock Market Game, a program designed to teach investment strategies through a simulated stock market experience. Teams from Mount Zion Elementary School, Riverdale Middle School, and Forest Park High School were acknowledged for finishing as the top-ranked teams in their congressional districts during the competition.

These recognitions not only celebrate individual and team accomplishments but also reflect the district's ongoing efforts to enhance educational opportunities and prepare students for future challenges. The board's commitment to excellence in education continues to pave the way for student success in various fields.
