The Goose Creek Consolidated Independent School District (GCCISD) celebrated the achievements of its students at the recent Board Meeting, highlighting their impressive performances at the Texas History Day competition. This annual event, a cornerstone of social studies education, encourages students to explore historical topics and present their findings through various formats, including exhibits, documentaries, and performances.
During the meeting, it was announced that GCCISD students excelled at the state level, with many advancing to the National History Day competition. Notably, the junior group exhibit team from EF Green Junior School, consisting of Anna Lee Ramirez, Gabriel Ramirez, Jonathan Lewis, and Yashvir Singh Gill, secured first place for the third consecutive year. Their project, "Set the Fire Earth on Fire: Mining for Rights, Responsibilities, and Equality during the Arendtricite Coal Strike," showcases their dedication and talent in historical research.

Madhavindra Chowan's historical paper on the Montgomery Bus Boycott earned him first place and a publication opportunity with the Texas State Historical Association. Other notable winners included Caleb Keeling, who took first place in junior individual performance, and Brinkley Benoit, who won first place in junior individual documentary.
The board meeting also recognized students who placed in the top ten at the state level, emphasizing the high caliber of talent within the district. These students will represent GCCISD at the National History Day competition, where they will compete against peers from across the country.
