Harnett County commissioners approve multiple utility project ordinances and budget amendments

The Harnett County Board of Commissioners made significant strides in infrastructure and community services during their meeting on June 2, 2025. The board approved several key action items aimed at enhancing local utilities and technology services.

Among the notable decisions, the board approved a series of project ordinances for Harnett Regional Water, which include upgrades to the Buies Creek and Coats Collection System, improvements to downtown Erwin utilities, and the extension of water services along Old Hamilton Road. Additionally, a compliance project addressing lead and copper levels in the water supply was also sanctioned, reflecting the county's commitment to public health and safety.

The Information Technology Department received approval to update review officers and relocate the GIS department to new offices at 420 McKinney Parkway, which is expected to streamline operations and improve service delivery.
