Tabitha's Way and NEBO Regional Water Project announce community engagement initiatives

Santaquin City Council's June 3 meeting highlighted community engagement and infrastructure progress, with a strong focus on upcoming events and projects.

A food drive spearheaded by Tabitha's Way aims to collect 15,000 pounds of food from across Utah County, culminating in a celebratory block party. This initiative underscores the city's commitment to community support and collaboration.

In infrastructure updates, the council reported significant progress on the Main Street project, with curb and gutter work set to begin soon. The north side is expected to be paved shortly, allowing for a shift in traffic to expedite work on the south side. Completion is anticipated before the end of the construction season, ensuring minimal disruption for residents.

Additionally, the NEBO Regional Water Project is set to hold public meetings, providing residents with crucial information about water management in the area. These meetings are organized by the Central Utah Water Conservancy District and are separate from city council activities.

The council also discussed the upcoming budget closeout meeting scheduled for June 30, which will finalize the fiscal year. This brief meeting will address any necessary budget amendments before the new fiscal year begins on July 1.

In a nod to cultural recognition, the council reminded residents that Juneteenth will be observed as a holiday on June 16, with city offices closed in observance.
