School Renovations planned at EchoShaw and Harvey Clark for improved safety and facilities

The Forest Grove School District 15's Bond Oversight Committee recently convened to discuss significant renovations and upgrades planned for local schools, emphasizing safety, modernization, and enhanced learning environments for students.

One of the key projects highlighted was the comprehensive renovation of restroom facilities at Echo Shaw Elementary. The upgrades aim to improve safety and supervision, featuring a redesigned layout that allows for better visibility from the commons area. The new design will include separate restrooms for boys and girls, along with a common wash station, ensuring a secure and accessible environment for students.

In addition to restroom renovations, Echo Shaw will undergo extensive exterior improvements, including the replacement of aging aluminum siding with durable fiber cement siding and the installation of new windows. These updates are part of a broader initiative funded by the bond measure, which also includes seismic upgrades and the addition of new classrooms, particularly for pre-kindergarten students.

Harvey Clark Elementary is set to receive similar attention, with major seismic upgrades and security enhancements planned. The school will see the installation of shear walls to bolster its earthquake resistance, along with a complete fire sprinkler system upgrade. New HVAC systems will also be introduced, providing air conditioning to all classrooms for the first time.
