Clay County Dispatch Center schedules new console for better rural service

A new dispatch console is set to enhance emergency response in Clay County, with operations scheduled to begin in October. The console will be staffed daily from 11 AM to 3 AM, providing focused attention to rural areas outside Moorhead. This upgrade aims to improve service and response times for residents in these regions.

The transition to the new facility will be carefully managed, with one console being moved at a time to ensure continuity of service. The existing facility will remain operational as a backup during this process.

In addition to the dispatch updates, the Clay County Council on Aging welcomed a new aging advocate, Flint Devine, who will work full-time to connect with seniors and explore educational initiatives. The council also reported increased usage of a rural bus service, which now offers transportation to key locations like the DMV and detox center, with free rides available every Monday.

Furthermore, tax assistance services for seniors will be expanded this year, with sessions planned at various local centers, including the Yump Pump Center and assisted living facilities. These initiatives reflect the county's commitment to improving services for its senior population and enhancing community support.
