Douglas High School's SkillsUSA program celebrated a successful year during the Douglas Unified School District's regular board meeting on June 3, 2025. With a record membership of 143 students across eight chapters, SkillsUSA has emerged as the largest Career and Technical Student Organization (CTSO) on campus.
The meeting highlighted the program's motto, "Lift While We Climb," which emphasizes the importance of supporting one another in achieving personal and collective goals. This year, SkillsUSA engaged in numerous community service initiatives, including a trunk-or-treat event, a drive-in movie, and a Veterans Day parade cleanup, showcasing the program's commitment to community involvement and diversity.

Subscribe for Free SkillsUSA also excelled in leadership development, with students participating in various conferences and events, including a regional conference and a tour of Northrop Grumman. Notably, four Douglas High School students were elected as regional officers, reflecting the program's strong leadership presence.
At the regional competition, Douglas High School sent 51 competitors and secured multiple medals across various categories, including robotics and automation technology, video production, and job skill demonstrations. The program's success continued at the state championships, where 21 students earned medals, including three gold medals for outstanding chapters in engineering, drafting, and film.
The meeting also celebrated the achievements of students who participated in National Signing Day, where eight students signed commitment letters for their respective fields of study, including engineering and film.
Looking ahead, eight SkillsUSA members will represent Douglas High School at the national competition in Atlanta, Georgia, on June 22, marking a significant opportunity for further recognition and achievement. The board meeting underscored the program's impact on students' futures and the community, reinforcing the importance of SkillsUSA in fostering skills and leadership among young people in Douglas.
