City Council allocates $2.76M for auction beautification and cleanup project

In the bustling heart of Oxnard's city hall, council members gathered to discuss a series of impactful projects aimed at enhancing the community's landscape and resources. The council approved a total of $2,765,624.79 in project funds, which includes a contract with CS CS Legacy Construction for $2,506,996.79. The funds will cover essential aspects such as engineering, inspection, survey, and project management, ensuring that the project is executed efficiently and effectively.

In a strategic move to bolster the project’s funding, the council authorized a budget appropriation of $1,600,000, sourced from existing general fund appropriations for the fiscal year 2024-2025. This allocation is complemented by an additional $1,074,578, which includes $870,000 from the American Rescue Plan Act and $204,578 from the tax allocation bond fund. These financial decisions reflect the city’s commitment to enhancing public spaces through thoughtful investment.

Moreover, the council took steps to promote sustainability by authorizing the public works director to apply for a turf replacement rebate program, potentially securing up to $638,500 from the Metropolitan Water District of Southern California. In addition to the auction beautification project, the council also incorporated the Delso Community Garden Activation Project into the 2025-2029 Capital Improvement Program.
