The Stratford Board of Education held its 2025 Awards Presentation on June 3, 2025, recognizing outstanding achievements among students in the Stratford School District. The event highlighted the accomplishments of two exceptional students, who were honored for their academic excellence and leadership.
The first recipient acknowledged was a student who has been accepted to five Ivy League schools and will be attending Princeton University in the fall. This recognition underscores the high caliber of students within the district.

Subscribe for Free Simone Good, the second recipient, was unable to attend the ceremony, but her achievements were celebrated through remarks read in her honor. Simone, the daughter of Darius Good and Veronica Shaw, has distinguished herself academically and through her extensive involvement in extracurricular activities. Over her four years in high school, she has played significant roles in various leadership positions, including serving as president and vice president of Aspire Ed, a leadership group that contributed to the 2025 cultural showcase at Bunnell High School.
Simone is also the founder and leader of Bunnell's No Place for Hate initiative, where she organized and facilitated discussions aimed at promoting inclusivity. Additionally, she led the Black History Month Student Committee, planning activities and emceeing a panel discussion. Her commitment to social justice and community engagement is further demonstrated through her participation in clubs such as Living in Color, DECA, and Interact Rotary.
Beyond her academic and leadership roles, Simone has been a competitive dancer since the age of four at the Stratford Performing Dance Academy and teaches dance at the Trumbull Performing Dance Academy. Her artistic pursuits provide her with a creative outlet.
Simone's accolades include the 2024 Cornell University Book Award and the University of Rochester Susan B. Anthony Award. She has also been recognized by the College Board for her scholastic achievements. Currently ranked third in her class with a weighted GPA of 4.53, Simone has been accepted to Bentley University, Babson College, and Quinnipiac University, where she plans to study business in the fall.
The awards presentation not only celebrated individual achievements but also highlighted the commitment of Stratford students to academic excellence and community service, setting a positive example for their peers.
