In a recent meeting of the Kandiyohi County Board, significant steps were taken to enhance local infrastructure with the approval of a developer's agreement for sewer and water services for a new residential development known as "The Nest." Located on the far southeast side of Nest Lake, this project will support 17 residential units and a clubhouse, necessitating the construction of essential infrastructure, including six manholes, approximately 578 feet of an 8-inch sanitary sewer main, and 592 feet of a 6-inch water main, along with the installation of two new fire hydrants.
Corey Smith, the director of the Glacier Lake Sanitary Sewer and Water District, presented the agreement, emphasizing that developers are responsible for covering all costs associated with new infrastructure. This practice ensures transparency and clarity for all parties involved. Once the infrastructure is completed and meets the district's standards, ownership will be transferred to either the Glacier Lakes district or the county.

Smith explained that fire hydrants are strategically located to ensure access to fresh water and facilitate maintenance, particularly at the ends of dead-end water lines.
In addition to the sewer and water agreement, the board addressed a resolution to vacate portions of the right-of-way on County Road 95, which has become unnecessary due to previous road realignments. This action is part of ongoing efforts to streamline county operations and improve land use.
The board unanimously approved both the sewer and water improvement agreement for The Nest and the resolution to vacate the right-of-way, marking a proactive approach to community development and infrastructure management. These decisions reflect the county's commitment to enhancing local services and supporting residential growth, ultimately benefiting the residents of Kandiyohi County.
