Subscribe for Free Looking ahead to summer, UCPS will launch several initiatives starting June 16. The mobile book bus will resume its travels, providing free books to students across the county. Additionally, the school nutrition department will offer free lunch meals at select schools, ensuring that students have access to nutritious food during the break.
A notable achievement was recognized as Cuthbertson High School's band received the National Band Association's program of excellence blue ribbon award, a prestigious honor awarded to only five schools nationwide for excellence in music education over five years.
The meeting also marked a bittersweet farewell to board members Jared McCraw and Don Novak, who are leaving UCPS. Dr. Houlihan thanked them for their leadership and contributions, acknowledging the lasting legacy they leave behind. The board welcomed new director of safety and security, Steve Hancock, to the team.
As the school year wraps up, UCPS looks forward to a productive summer and the return of students in August, reinforcing its commitment to educational excellence and community engagement.
