Manteca Historical Society highlights local history at museum on Yosemite Avenue

The Manteca Historical Society is making significant strides in preserving the local heritage, as highlighted during the recent city council meeting on June 3, 2025. Established in 1990, the society operates a historical museum located at 600 West Yosemite Avenue, which serves as a vital educational resource for residents and visitors alike.

The museum features a diverse collection of artifacts, documents, and thousands of photographs that showcase Manteca's rich history, including its Native American roots, early settlers, and notable events that have shaped the community. Among its attractions are a 1920s kitchen, an 1880s vintage parlor, and a dedicated section for farming and dairy equipment, reflecting the agricultural significance of the area. A standout exhibit is a 1927 fire engine, the first purchased by the city, which draws interest from history enthusiasts.

In addition to its exhibits, the museum hosts a changing stage area that highlights different holidays and events each quarter, ensuring that there is always something new for visitors to experience.
