They also approved the surplus sale of a 1990 Chevrolet Kodiak truck with a plow through Purple Wave, a platform that has previously yielded significant returns for the city.
The council addressed several pay requests related to ongoing projects. Pay request number three from First Rate Excavation for the Seventh Street Utility Extension was approved for $121,496.36. Additionally, they approved a pay request from Merle and Royce Paving for the ball field parking lot paving, totaling $121,848.25, and a substantial pay request from Metro Construction for the Bak Residential Housing Project amounting to $802,032.96.
Further discussions included a pay request for wastewater treatment facility improvements, which was approved for $197,415.78, and a pay request for Gil Haugen Construction for the Bridal Patio Addition, pending engineer approval.
The council also approved step pay increases for two employees, Connor Boom and Rachel Johnson, and discussed the swimming pool concession stand lease agreement, which was authorized for renewal.
In recognition of community contributions, volunteers Eric and Patricia Cade, Crystal Barnes, and Serena Anderson were acknowledged for their efforts in enhancing local landscapes.
The meeting concluded with a reminder of a special council meeting scheduled for June 4 to discuss election results regarding a zoning ordinance amendment. The council then moved to pay the bills before adjourning.
