Tomball ISD board approves $518K for chiller renovations at high school

Tomball ISD has taken a significant step towards enhancing its facilities by approving a comprehensive service agreement for the renewal and maintenance of chillers at Tomball High School. During the Regular Board Meeting on June 4, 2025, the board unanimously approved a motion to engage Hunting Services for a syntravic renewal, which includes a seven-year parts and labor warranty for chiller CH 4 and a rebuild of chiller CH 3 with a five-year warranty. The total cost for these services amounts to $396,837.05, funded through the Bond 2025 initiative.

In addition to the renewal, the board also approved a train service agreement necessary for the warranty period, which will be paid in monthly installments totaling $121,216.92 from general funds. The overall expenditure for the service, utilizing the Choice Partners contract number 22/049MFD/11, is projected at $518,053.97.

The decision to amend the original motion was prompted by discussions regarding the differences between the two chillers, which are manufactured by different companies. Board member John McStravick proposed the amendment to clarify the specifics of the service agreement, ensuring that the needs of both chillers are adequately addressed.

This proactive approach not only secures the operational efficiency of the school's HVAC systems but also underscores the district's commitment to maintaining a conducive learning environment for students.
