Carthage School Board endorses Pinnacle Architecture for new elementary school design

Excitement buzzed through the Moore County School Board meeting as members endorsed Pinnacle Architecture for the design of the new Carthage Elementary School. The board's unanimous decision follows a thorough selection process, which included interviews with three shortlisted firms and a site visit to a recently completed school in Wayne County.

Pinnacle Architecture, recognized for its extensive experience in building schools across North Carolina, was chosen for its prototype design that aligns with the district's needs. The firm has successfully completed nine similar projects, ensuring that any potential issues have been addressed in their plans. The board highlighted the importance of this prototype, noting that it allows for a streamlined design process and cost savings.

The agreed-upon flat fee of $1,975,000 for design services represents a significant 30% savings compared to typical fees. This fixed cost means that any unforeseen expenses during construction will not impact the design budget. The board anticipates that once the land for the new school is finalized, Pinnacle can deliver adjusted plans within six to eight weeks.

In addition to the design fee, the board plans to request further funding from capital lottery funds, ensuring they have adequate resources for the project. The new school will feature a full-size gym and additional facilities for preschool and special education classes, all included in the design fee.
