County Commissioners celebrate opening of Owens Minor distribution facility in Morgantown

A major boost for Monongalia County was announced during the June 4, 2025, County Commission meeting, as officials celebrated the opening of the new Owens Minor Morgantown distribution facility. This state-of-the-art, 350,000 square foot warehouse is set to create up to 140 jobs and features advanced technology, including 73 HAI robots capable of processing an impressive 85 totes per hour.

Commissioner Tom highlighted the facility's efficiency, noting that even the most productive human workers could only manage 75 totes in an eight-hour shift. "The efficiency is enormous," he stated, emphasizing the significant impact this facility will have on local healthcare services, particularly for WVU hospitals.

The warehouse's vast size drew comparisons to iconic movie scenes, with Tom likening it to the storage facility in "Indiana Jones," underscoring its impressive scale. This development marks a positive step forward for both Monongalia County and its residents, promising enhanced service capabilities and job opportunities in the region.
