Gahanna prepares for Creekside Blues and Jazz Festival June 13-15

Gahanna residents are gearing up for the highly anticipated Creekside Blues and Jazz Festival, set to take place from June 13 to June 15. Tickets are still available, and community members are encouraged to volunteer by signing up at creeksidebluesandjazz.com. The festival not only promises great music but also offers opportunities for local nonprofits to engage and receive donations through volunteer efforts.

During the recent City Council meeting, Mayor Chadwin highlighted the retirement of three long-serving city employees: Jeff Tedrick, who dedicated 48 years to the Department of Public Service; Rick Darce, who served 23 years in the Fleet Department; and John Fazuro, who spent nearly 20 years in the Parks Department. Their collective service of almost a century has significantly impacted the community, and the council expressed gratitude for their professionalism and dedication.

The meeting also addressed ongoing mental health initiatives, following May's Mental Health Awareness Month. The city has organized a panel discussion titled "In This Together: A Conversation on Mental Health," scheduled for June 18 from 6 to 8 PM at the Gahanna Golf Course. This event will focus on resources for parents and caregivers dealing with mental health challenges.

Additionally, on the same day, the Franklin County Auditor will host a community conversation at the Gahanna Library, providing residents with valuable information about local services, including property assessments and neighborhood resources.

In preparation for the festival, a roadway litter cleanup event is planned for June 7 from 10 AM to noon. Volunteers are invited to meet at the Royal Plaza parking lot to help beautify the city ahead of the influx of visitors.

These initiatives reflect Gahanna's commitment to community engagement and well-being, ensuring that residents are informed and involved in local events and services.
