The Laguna Beach Planning Commission has approved a sign permit for Bridal Brew, a new establishment located at 188 South Coast Highway, during their recent meeting on June 5, 2025. This decision is significant as it marks the introduction of a unique dining option in the visitor commercial district of the downtown area.
Bridal Brew, part of the Board and Brew chain, has committed to creating a distinct identity for its Laguna Beach location. The city determined that the establishment does not qualify as a formula-based business, which allowed for the issuance of a business license without the need for a Certificate of Public Convenience (COP). This exemption underscores the city’s support for local businesses that contribute to the community's character.

The wall sign, measuring 42 inches in height and 70.75 inches in width, will feature a design that highlights the restaurant's specialty sandwiches since 1979. It will be positioned to attract northbound traffic along South Coast Highway. The existing gooseneck lamp from a previous tenant will remain to ensure visibility after dark.
The two suspended signs will hang from the existing canopy at the entrance, each measuring 17 inches in height and 21.5 inches in width. These signs will also comply with city regulations, maintaining a clearance of 7.5 feet from the sidewalk.
City staff have confirmed that the proposed signage aligns with the Laguna Beach Municipal Code and the downtown specific plan, recommending the Planning Commission adopt the resolution to approve the sign permit. The approval is seen as a positive step towards enhancing the local dining scene while adhering to community standards.
As Bridal Brew prepares to open, the Planning Commission's decision reflects a commitment to fostering unique business ventures that enrich the Laguna Beach experience for both residents and visitors.
