Independence Power and Light outlines $12M budget increase for service upgrades

The City of Independence is gearing up for a significant budget overhaul, with a focus on enhancing electrical services and addressing staffing challenges. During a recent study session, city officials presented a budget that reflects a substantial increase in expenditures, primarily driven by the need for improved customer service and capital projects.

The budget proposal highlights a mission to provide safe, reliable, and cost-effective electricity to residents and businesses. Key accomplishments were noted, including the 25th consecutive Tree Line USA award and a perfect score in a recent reliability audit, underscoring the city's commitment to maintaining high standards in electrical service.
