Lawndale school board reviews events and commends staff achievements

The Board Meeting of the Lawndale Elementary School District convened on June 6, 2025, to discuss various topics concerning the district's operations and recent events. The meeting began with a review of previous accomplishments, followed by a unanimous vote on the agenda, which passed 5-0.

Trustee Phillips reported on her attendance at the delegate assembly in Sacramento, where discussions centered on declining enrollment and its financial implications for school districts. She highlighted the challenges posed by a 3% reduction in attendance, which negatively impacts funding. Phillips also attended a safety summit, where she recognized Officer Troy Hilliard for his dedication to student safety.

Trustee Morales expressed gratitude to the Anderson staff for their hard work in achieving a distinguished school award and acknowledged the contributions of the South Bay Mission Church to the community. She wished students and staff a safe and enjoyable summer as the school year comes to a close.
