Boone County secures grant for Lebanon mural project with local committee oversight

Funding for a vibrant new mural in Lebanon, Indiana, has been secured through a grant from the Boone County Economic Development Corporation. The mural design process kicked off in March 2025, led by a dedicated committee that includes representatives from the Boone EDC, property owners, the Heart of Lebanon, and staff from the Historical Preservation Commission (HPC).

During the recent Historical Preservation Commission meeting, it was emphasized that HPC staff do not provide recommendations for murals or artwork due to the subjective nature of art. "What I like might not be something that you like and vice versa," noted a committee member, highlighting the diverse tastes within the community.
