Hoover City Council approves fireworks contract for Independence Day celebration

Hoover City Council has approved a contract with Pyro Shows of Alabama for a fireworks display during the Independence Day celebration at Hoover Met Stadium on July 1. This decision, made during the work session on June 5, 2025, ensures that all necessary permits and licenses will be in place, with the fire marshal and fire department overseeing the setup.

The council also discussed ongoing issues with high grass and weeds in the city, with five properties identified for potential abatement. The properties, including locations on O'Neil Drive and Tyler Lane, will be inspected, and updates will be provided at the next council meeting.

Additionally, the council addressed an annexation petition from Signature Homes for approximately 200 acres near existing city limits. Concerns were raised regarding conditions proposed by the developer, which have yet to be reviewed by city staff. The council decided to postpone further discussion to allow for a thorough examination of these conditions.
