Colorado officials secure funding for chain stations on Highway 491 to improve winter safety

John, a resident of Durango, raised concerns about transportation access for surrounding communities, including Cortez, Mancos, Pagosa Springs, Bayfield, Aztec, and Farmington. He highlighted the lack of state-provided transportation options for residents who cannot afford to live in Durango but need to commute for work. John expressed frustration over the absence of progress in addressing these transportation needs since he moved to the area in 1974.

The meeting concluded with a commitment from CDOT to consider the transportation challenges faced by outlying communities and to explore potential solutions.
