Bowie and Lamar High School celebrate standout students and dedicated educators

The STAR Awards 2025 ceremony for Arlington ISD took place on June 10, 2025, celebrating the achievements of outstanding students and their influential educators. The event highlighted the personal growth and academic journeys of students from Bowie High School and Lamar High School, showcasing the vital role teachers play in shaping their futures.

The ceremony began with students sharing heartfelt tributes to their chosen educators. Miss Emanuela Asamoah, who will attend the University of Texas at Arlington to study Biomedical Engineering, praised her counselor, Miss Teresa Sandoval, for her unwavering support and guidance throughout high school. Similarly, Miss Jacqueline Buie, set to major in Computer Science at the same university, expressed gratitude for Mr. Minh Dang, her chemistry teacher, who imparted valuable life lessons alongside academic knowledge.

Mr. Anthony Cal, another student heading to UT Arlington for Aerospace Engineering, acknowledged Mr. Truong Howe for his mentorship and encouragement in mathematics and leadership. The theme of appreciation continued with Miss Veil Hearn, who will study Architectural Engineering at UT Austin, recognizing Miss Amber Green for her impactful teaching and support in English.

As the ceremony progressed, students like Mr. Max Huynh and Mr. Jason Lee shared their admiration for their respective teachers, Miss Christy Cox and Miss Suzanne Schwartz, highlighting their dedication and positive influence in both academic and extracurricular activities. Mr. Tyler Nguyen and Mr. Dylan Nguyen also expressed their gratitude towards their teachers, Mr. Brandon Lopez and Ms. Bethany Johnson, for their mentorship and support.

The event transitioned to Lamar High School, where students like TJ Adrian and salutatorian Max Berger honored their teachers, Coach Gordon Stevens and Coach Hoffner, for their encouragement and dedication. Each student emphasized the profound impact their educators had on their personal and academic development.

The ceremony concluded with a collective acknowledgment of the hard work and dedication of all educators present, as well as the support from parents and the community.
