Medina City Council approves funding for recreation center renovations and water line project

Medina City Council has taken significant steps to enhance community facilities and infrastructure during its recent meeting on June 9, 2025. A key decision was the approval of an ordinance authorizing a $150,000 expenditure for renovations at the Medina Community Recreation Center. This project will focus on upgrading the main locker rooms, including new tile flooring and restroom partitions, aimed at improving aesthetics and cleanliness.

Construction is set to begin on July 7 and will last until August 8, during which time patrons will have access to alternative locker room facilities connected to the pool. This project will affect traffic and parking in the area for approximately two to three months, with all property owners in the vicinity having been notified.

The council also approved several financial measures, including a resolution to apply for a grant from the Medina County Drug Abuse Commission to support the School Resource Officer Program, and an ordinance to amend the budget for emergency repairs related to rail line breaks.
