She told the task force the county received approximately $26,000 under the City/County Payment Program (CCPP) for fiscal 2025 and submitted a progress report on an SB 1383 local assistance grant to CalRecycle after receiving $269,157. Sanchez said the department held a composting workshop at Dunn Park on May 18 and continued school education programs with partners Point Blue Conservation and Save the Whales. She also described a small community cleanup at Luck Park in San Juan Bautista that covered Anzar Road, Searle Road and downtown San Juan.

Looking ahead, Sanchez listed upcoming events in the task force packet: a community cleanup at Veterans Memorial Park on Saturday, June 14; a quarterly bulky-item event at John Smith Road Landfill at the end of June; monthly HHW events at the landfill from 9 a.m. to noon each Saturday; and additional compost workshops including a vermicomposting session scheduled in the coming days.
