Williamsville schools announce summer closures and air conditioning project progress

The Board of Education meeting held on June 10, 2025, focused on several key updates regarding the school district's operations and upcoming events. The meeting highlighted progress on the elementary air conditioning project, which is ahead of schedule. Families and staff received updates on June 3, and the district's website features a dedicated landing page for air conditioning updates at each elementary school.

Construction work for Phase 2 schools, including Dodge, Forest, and Maple East, is set to begin this summer. This work will involve tile removal, abatement, and ceiling removal in preparation for infrastructure installation. As a result, all elementary schools will be closed for the summer starting June 27.

The meeting also addressed the upcoming academic calendar, noting that the last student day will be on June 25, with a half-day scheduled for that date. The last teacher day has been moved to June 26. Information regarding the Regents exam schedule and summer school locations was shared, with elementary and middle school summer sessions taking place at Transit Middle School, high school summer school at Williamsville East High School, and special education summer school at Mill Middle School.

A highlight of the senior year, the memory walk, is scheduled for June 18, allowing graduating students to return to their elementary schools in cap and gown to reconnect with former teachers. The graduation schedule for 2025 was confirmed, with Williamsville East graduation on June 27 and Williamsville North and South on June 28.

The meeting concluded with a reminder for graduates to fill out an alumni form, as the district is establishing alumni coordinators at each high school to support alumni activities in partnership with the Williamsville Education Foundation. The board expressed gratitude to retiring staff members and announced a retiree reception on June 25, marking the end of the school year and the last community update for the 2024-2025 academic year.
