Quad Cities plans summer concert series with Common Core partnership

In the heart of Davenport City, the Riverfront Improvement Commission convened on April 22, 2025, to discuss pivotal developments shaping the community's waterfront. One of the primary topics was the addition of utility costs associated with the VisiQuad Cities space at Union Station. The commission clarified that while the restaurant "I Love Fufu" operates on its own meter, the remaining space does not, raising concerns about budgeting and cost-sharing among tenants. The commission is currently awaiting a response from "I Love Fufu" regarding a lease renewal, with hopes of engaging in fruitful negotiations soon.

As the meeting progressed, excitement built around the upcoming "Big 9" summer concert series, which aims to bring a diverse array of musical acts and food vendors to the riverfront. Scheduled to run from May 31 to August 30, the concerts will take place at various locations along the river, ensuring there’s something for everyone. The commission highlighted its partnership with Common Core, which will manage the logistics of the event, including booking bands and handling marketing efforts. A cost-sharing arrangement is in place, with both parties contributing to the event's expenses.

In addition to the concert series, the commission provided updates on ongoing projects, including the installation of a fire alarm system at the Freight House, which is nearing completion. Members also reflected on the successful groundbreaking of the Main Street landing, expressing optimism about the construction progress and the positive feedback received from the community.
