At the Culpeper County School Board meeting on November 11, 2024, educators from across the district were celebrated for their outstanding contributions to student learning and community engagement. The highlight of the evening was the recognition of several teachers and staff members who exemplify dedication and excellence in education.

Erin Henderson, a kindergarten teacher at AG Richardson, was honored for her 17 years of teaching experience and her commitment to creating a welcoming classroom environment. Henderson, who has a rich background as an Air Force child and a graduate of Indiana University of Pennsylvania, has been a part of the Bulldog family for seven years. Her efforts were recognized with the Inclusive Spirit Award from the CCPS Special Education Department in 2020.

Teresa Churney, a third-grade teacher at Emerald Hill Elementary, was also celebrated. A Culpeper native, Churney has spent 12 years in education, with a focus on building strong connections with her students. Her dedication to creating a safe and nurturing classroom has made a lasting impact on her students and the community.

Caroline Bridal, the school counselor at Farmington Elementary, was recognized for her extensive support of students and families. With a background in social work and a master's in school counseling, Bridal has become a vital resource for emotional support and guidance within the school.

Emerald Green, a second-grade teacher at Pearl Sample Elementary, was acknowledged for her commitment to education and community involvement. With a diverse educational background and a passion for literacy, Green has made significant contributions to her students' learning experiences.

Courtney Sims, a third-grade teacher at Sycamore Park Elementary, was celebrated not only for her teaching but also for her leadership roles within the school. Sims is currently pursuing a reading specialist certificate and has been recognized for her culinary skills in the school's chili cook-off.

Kelsey Noel, the reading specialist at Yale Elementary, was honored for her dedication to literacy education and her role as a mentor to both students and colleagues. Her advocacy for reading instruction extends beyond her school, as she serves on the board of the Reading League of Virginia.

The meeting also recognized John Bridges, the director of counseling at Culpeper Middle School, for his long-standing commitment to student well-being and community involvement. His fluency in Spanish has been particularly beneficial in serving the diverse student population.

Nathan Clough, a math teacher at Floyd T. Binns Middle School, was acknowledged for his unique background in civil engineering and his dedication to community service. Clough's commitment to education and his involvement in local initiatives have made him a respected figure in the school.

Bridal Davis Panell, a special education teacher at Culpeper County High School, was celebrated for her 27 years of service in education. Her positive attitude and collaborative spirit have made her a beloved member of the school community.

Brent Hartle, a social studies teacher at Eastern View High School, was recognized for his innovative teaching methods and community engagement efforts, including organizing voter registration drives.

Chef Jay, the teacher at Culpeper Technical Education Center, was honored for his exceptional commitment to his students and the community, exemplified by his involvement in various events and his recognition by the national FCCLA.

Finally, Merriwig Dawson, an art teacher at the Phoenix alternative education program, was celebrated for her passion for art and her dedication to fostering creativity in her students. Her nurturing classroom environment encourages students to express themselves and grow as artists.
