Hinsdale residents will soon see significant improvements in their downtown area as the Village Board approved a plan to construct a parking deck and pedestrian enhancements during their meeting on June 10, 2025. The project aims to create a more accessible and inviting space between the parking deck and First Street, enhancing the overall experience for visitors and residents alike.

The Board voted to waive competitive bidding and awarded the construction contract to A Lamp Construction Contractors. This decision is expected to expedite the project timeline, allowing for quicker implementation of the enhancements. Additionally, the Board approved a grant of easement with the Hinsdale Chamber of Commerce, as part of the project involves their property.

Funding for the project has been secured through a grant from the Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity, amounting to $108,000. The Hinsdale Chamber of Commerce has also contributed $30,000, demonstrating strong community support for the initiative.
